Andrew McConnell opened Cutler & Co. in 2009 in a former metal works factory in Fitzroy, Melbourne’s first suburb.
Behind a glass façade that has reflected the changes around it for over thirteen years, Cutler & Co. has seen its own evolution.

Our ethos – refined, simple, hospitable dining – has not changed in that time but our essence comes from that evolution, from reflecting and embracing neighbourhood and city, and the changing nature of the way people like to eat.

In 2023, as the flagship fine dining restaurant of Andrew’s Trader House collection of venues, our whole team at Cutler & Co. are happier than ever to still be doing what we do, and so grateful to everyone that has supported us along the way.

Dining room

Our Dining Room is inviting, alluring and elegant, yet still retains the charm of its industrial past. With smoky leather booths you can sink into, salt-flecked stone surfaces and herbaceous licks of spice in a green granite feature wall, colours and textures intertwine into a space you can almost taste.

Menu

Presenting a contemporary Australian menu, dishes are informed by the season, and reflect the skilful restraint and classic techniques of an experienced team.

Our Chef’s Seasonal Menu showcases the quality of local farms, pristine seafood and rare-breed heritage meats, offering guests the opportunity to explore a variety of dishes over four courses.

Should the mood call for celebration and relaxed decadence, our additional centrepiece main courses to share provide a sense of occasion and conviviality, while highlights from our Bar Menu can also be incorporated into your experience in the Dining Room.
Inspire your own menu by choosing a progression of dishes that resonate with you, or give over all decision making to our Chef by opting for our degustation-style, four course Chef’s Seasonal Menu. The choice is entirely yours.

SUNDAY LUNCH

Sunday lunch at Cutler & Co. is generous, seasonal and relaxed in nature. Much like a leisurely lunch with the family. Menus change throughout the month, enabling our chefs to be informed by creative spontaneity and just-harvested produce.
The format is simple and flexible - snacks are served, appetisers are shared, and guests choose their own main and dessert.

BAR

The Cutler & Co. Bar is a destination all on its own - a stand-alone space that equally encourages an aperitif and snack or Champagne and Fruits de Mer, as it does to while away a whole evening with dinner at our marble-topped tables overlooking the kitchen.
Drinks at the bar offer something for every hour and every mood, with cocktails made using our favourite spirits, distillations and digestives.

The Bar menu features the best of season seafood bounty, including our signature Fruits de Mer - a daily changing selection of dressed and raw seafood. And everything you'll feel like eating with a drink in hand - zucchini flowers, our signature burger, hand made pasta and moreish savoury donuts with crème fraîche and caviar.

The sharp yet all-encompassing offering and comfortable space means you can spend your entire night in the Bar, where the spectacle of an open kitchen and the vivacious energy of informal dining and celebration can make for a wonderful time.

Guests are welcome in the Bar without a reservation.

EVENTS

Cutler & Co. provides an elegant and impressive setting for every celebration. From an intimate dinner party to a grand affair, we can create a stunning, memorable party that guests will talk about in years to come.

The combined Bar and Dining Room allows great flexibility for pre and post dinner drinks, the Bar area can become a dance floor or for extra guests arriving later. This gives you an exclusive dining experience for either lunch or dinner and on the weekends. We’ve happily hosted wedding receptions, corporate parties, and large family events.

Our expert events team can help you create exactly the celebration you have in mind, from menu and beverage offerings to styling and floristry. Through their friendly and attentive service, our team will ensure an unforgettable celebration.

When hired exclusively, Cutler & Co. can accommodate 80 guests seated and up to a 110 guests for a stand-up cocktail party.

Private Dining Room

Gracefully partitioned by floor to ceiling glass archways, our Private Dining Room can be closed for privacy, or doors left open for those that wish to be absorbed in the atmosphere of the restaurant.

The rear wall of exposed brick and grand windows encase the warmth of a stunning French cheminée fireplace. A moody, romantic painting series by Australian artist Tony Clark and feature lighting from New York designers Apparatus create a sophisticated and warm backdrop for a memorable event.

Menus reflect the seasons through a selection of group dining offerings.

The Private Dining Room can host up to 40 guests for a seated event and up to 50 guests for a canapé reception.
